Summer Course in Sacramento State

California State University, Sacramento, known in the area as Sacramento State, is a public 
university of approximately 29,000 students located in California’s capital city. As the 
seventh largest university within the 23 campus CSU system, it is one of the most diverse 
campuses and celebrates its multiethnic and multinational student body. The university 
offers a wide variety of educational programs, with seven academic colleges, 60 different 
bachelor's degree programs, 48 master's degree programs, and several Ed.D. degrees, as 
well as a doctoral program in Physical Therapy. Sacramento State is located on 300 acres 
of land next to the American River, which includes the forested University Arboretum, and 
is home to the California Smart Grid Center, a center for eco-friendly energy management 
research. 
The university offers a variety of facilities, including the Well, a state-of-the-art large 
recreation and wellness facility completed in 2010. At the Well, students can work out, 
take exercise classes, use recreation facilities such as indoor fields and the rock-climbing 
wall, and consult with health professionals. The university also provides extensive 
research facilities through the University Library and online access to scholarly journals 
and articles, along with computer labs found throughout the campus. Additionally, 
students have access to the Hornet Shuttle, which is the on-campus bus system, as well as 
all of the special gallery showings, concerts, lectures, movies, and other events held on the 
CSUS campus.
